Liturgy for Epiphany
Opening Responses
‘You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you might declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light’
All: We declare your glory to the world,
gracious loving Father. We no longer walk in the uncertainty of the darkness but in the certainty of your glorious light.
Father God, into your presence we draw
your creation worshipping its creator
your children drawn to the arms of a loving Father
Thank you that you accept us as we are
vulnerable, flawed and in need of love
and feed us through word, hymn, song and prayer
Fill us with the certainty of your love
the power of your Spirit and the joy of your Kingdom
as we open ourselves in worship
in service to each other
and to you
For the responsibilities that are ours, your ambassadors
as children of light in this dark world.
All: Enfold us with the brightness of your Spirit
For our timidity and weakness, the lack of faith
which often prevents us from bearing fruit.

which often prevents us from bearing fruit.
All: Enfold us with the confidence of your Spirit
For those times when we feel far away from your presence
and choose to wander from your path.
All: Enfold us with the encouragement of your Spirit
For those times when the inner tensions within our lives bring unease and fear.
All: Enfold us with the serenity of your Spirit
‘You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last.’
For those times when we forget that we are a chosen people, special, loved and important to your Kingdom
All: Enfold us with the truth of your Spirit
With all of our strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures we come to your feet, humbly admitting our faults and trusting you for your forgiveness.
Fill us
All: Renew us
Take us
All: Use us
As your lights in this world of darkness, empowered through your Spirit

Your Spirit of peace
All: Your Spirit of hope
We join together in the Lord’s prayer
All: Our Father…

Silence
Your light is the only light we need
as we travel through life’s mystery
All: We thank you, Father
Your word the only voice we hear
that still small voice that leads us
to the place where we should be
All: We thank you, Father
Your presence is the only company we need
as we walk this narrow road
All: We thank you, Father
Your fellowship the warmth we crave
to help us on our way
All: We thank you, Father
The Table
(A telling of the story and blessing the bread and cup after which we serve one another around the table)
In the beauty of this moment
All: We worship you
In the fellowship of your people
All: We worship you
In the presence of your Spirit
All: We worship you
In the company of all creation
All: We worship you
Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Glorious Trinity
All: We worship you
Enfold us in your love
The warmth of your love
The comfort of your love
The reassurance of your love
The healing of your love
Enfold us in your love
All: That we might share that same love through our lives
Let us have a time of quiet at this Table. A precious moment or two to think about the God we serve, the God we worship, the God we love
(Silence)
Let us think about Jesus. His life, His mission, His death and Resurrection
(Silence)
Let us think about the Holy Spirit. His power, wisdom and presence in our lives
(Silence)
Sharing the Bread and Wine
The Dismissal of the Community-
ALL: Holy Spirit, your creative breath is the power in your Church today, Lord. May we know that power in this place and in our lives.
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit go in peace.
Amen
